CONSTRUCTION OF PRIMARY SCHOOLS UNDER NABARD

Construction of primary schools have been under taken through NABARD during the year 2001-02, 199 new primary school buildings and 781 additional classrooms at the cost of Rs. 1880.95 lacs has been approved out of which loan component works out to Rs. 1692.83 lacs. CONSTRUCTION OF COMPUTER LABS/ROOMS

Under the scheme vocationalization of Secondary Education the process for construction of suitable Computer labs/Rooms for approximately 10 Computer System and 40 students in each identified Higher Secondary Schools having an area of about 400 Sq. feet has been initiated. In keeping with rooms having additional Computer Labs in schools where roll exceeds 250 students the provision of additional computer labs shall be made accordingly.

In the first phase 58 Higher Secondary Schools of Jammu Division have been identified for the construction of Computer Labs in 2002-03. Under the scheme 44 Higher Secondary Schools have been identified to be constructed by the Rural Development Department and 14 are proposed to be constructe4 by the SICOP. The present status is indicated as under:

So far as the construction work of 12 computer labs allotted to the SICOP is concerned it is submitted that the works stands started as reported by the concerned CEOs of Jammu Division. But the expenditure incurred is not available and the funds have already been allotted to the MD JKPCC by the Administrative Department.

In the phase II 21 HSS of Jammu Division have been identified for construction of computer labs. in 2004-05. as such Rs. 45.00 lacs. have been placed at the disposal of Rural Development department for construction of computer labs. The District wise detail of schools is as under:-

11^TH FINANCE COMMISSION

A Construction of Middle School buildings.

Under 11^th Finance Commission construction programme of 09 Middle School Buildings are under construction in Jammu Division at the estimated cost worked out by the Administrative Department to the extent of Rs. 103.70 lacs vide their letter No: Edu-Plan/754/2001/IV Dated: 19-3-2004. Out of this the work done value is to the extent of Rs. 47.20 lacs. The funds are being released by the Administrative Department to the JKPCC.

B An amount of Rs. 41.80 lacs have been released by the Administrative Department for purchase of Generator Sets against this amount an amount of Rs. 35.72 lacs have been incurred during 2003-04 and the Chief Engineer Mechanical Division has procured 72 Generator Sets of 2400 V.A and these are being distributed to the various Higher Secondary Schools were computer labs stands completed.

GUTTED SCHOOL BUILDINGS

During the year 2000-01 the administrative Department released an amount of Rs. 260.55 lacs for reconstruction of gutted school buildings. During the year 2003-04 an amount of Rs. 20.00 lacs have been released to the District Doda for re-construction of these buildings. The present physical status till date in Jammu Province is indicated as under:-
